Building a before-and-after editing showcase page

A before-and-after page is often the most persuasive asset for an imaging brand. This guide explains how to plan one that visitors understand quickly and trust, using a single worked example.

Step one: choose the transformation to show — FimagiFimagi · Creative

Step one: choose the transformation to show

Pick one clear change per example rather than many at once. Suppose a studio wants to show portrait retouching: the worked example uses a backlit portrait with a dull background. The chosen transformation is balanced light, cleaner backdrop and natural skin tone. Write that single sentence beside the pair so the viewer knows what to look for. Choose source images you have the right to publish, and avoid extreme edits that look unrealistic. A modest, believable improvement builds more confidence than a dramatic one, and it sets honest expectations for what a customer will receive.

Layout decides whether the comparison works. Use the same crop, size and position for both images, and offer a draggable divider or a simple toggle so the eye can compare detail without scrolling. In the portrait example, place the original on the left and the edited version on the right with plain labels. Add a short caption naming the three adjustments made, such as exposure, background and tone. Keep file sizes light so the slider loads quickly on a phone, and provide alternative text describing both versions for accessibility.

Step three: connect the proof to a next action — FimagiA useful path from inputto understanding

Step three: connect the proof to a next action

A showcase should lead somewhere. Under the portrait pair, add one clear action: upload a photo to try the edit, request a quote or view the package details. State what happens next, including turnaround and what the customer reviews before anything is final. If automated tools were involved, say that a person checks the result. Then add two or three further examples covering different subjects, such as a product shot and a landscape, so visitors with other needs can recognize themselves. Review the page periodically and replace weaker samples as better work arrives.
